DULUTH
S. Cecelia Elmore, 93, of Duluth, died peacefully with her family present on Friday, October 30, 2009 at her residence, in Primrose Retirement Community.
She was born June 16, 1916 in Melrude, Minnesota, daughter of Anna (Nelson) and Carl Larson.
Cecelia was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Duluth.
She will be remembered for her devotion to her family, church and God. She especially enjoyed spending time in the north woods at the family cabin, as well as gardening and cross country skiing.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Ward D. Elmore on February 1, 1984; daughter, Sondra Armstrong on May 12, 1963; son, Steven Armstrong on July 11, 2009; grandson, Michael Armstrong on February 26, 2004; 2 brothers; and 2 sisters.
Survivors include her sons, Conrad (Deanna) Armstrong, Mineola, Texas, Michael (Joan) Armstrong, Duluth, Richard (Laurie) Armstrong, DeForest, Wis., and Randolph (Darlene) Armstrong, Coon Rapids, Minn.; daughter-in-law, Judy Armstrong, Prescott, Wis.; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and sister, Thelma Janson, Duluth.
Private services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior, with Pastor Ronald P. Henely officiating.
Inurnment will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Superior.
