Sandra "Sandi"
Lee Lundberg
November 22, 1948 – December 9, 2022
Sandi L. Lundberg, 74, of Superior, died Friday, December 9, 2022, at her residence following a lengthy illness.
She was born on November 22, 1948, in Superior, a daughter to Harry and Betty (Murray) Tessem.
Sandi was raised at the St. Joseph's Orphanage in Superior, WI.
In 1963, Sandi moved in with her foster family, the Ryan's in Frederic, WI. Marge and Jim Ryan had a small hobby farm, where they raised their boys and Jim ran the bakery in town.
Sandi would always refer to Frederic as her "old stomping grounds". As a teen, she worked a summer at the Stokely Van Camp factory, which is the reason she attributed to her refusal to ever eat a canned green bean again!
Sandi met what turned out to be the love of her life, Richard in 1970. After a short courtship, they married on February 19, 1972.
Sandi worked at Bridgeview for a short time and trained for her career as an LPN at Superior Memorial Hospital, but her dreams of becoming an RN were put on hold as they welcomed their son, Adam, in 1974 and their daughter, Marie, in 1983.
Sandi was a natural when it came to motherhood. She loved every opportunity she had to color, paint, and create art projects with her kids. Playing catch, shooting hoops, creating chalk sidewalk drawings, card games and making sure we all had a home cooked meal every night.
Sandi loved kids and volunteered her time at the school to help with lice checks, vision screening and PTA functions.
In her free time, Sandi was quite the crafter. She created all kinds of different crafts that she would bring to shows all over the area.
She was very skilled at crocheting, making blankets, scarves, and hats, some she made just to donate to young children.
She was very talented at cake decorating, making hundreds of decorated cakes over the years, for every occasion.
She loved her friends, and easily made them everywhere she went. Rich and Sandi had their favorite restaurants they would go regularly, where she was known for her smile, spunk and quick wit.
Sandi was also known as a life-long, diehard Vikings fan. Most days dressed head to toe in Vikings gear. Sandi's car was one of the most recognizable in town, as it was outfitted with every Vikings accessory Rich could find for her, even down to the license plate which displayed her title, "VIKQUEN".
The most important title Sandi had and the one she held nearest to her heart was Grandma. She adored her granddaughters, Tayla and Rayna. She loved getting the chance to watch them grow, play sports and become her "beautiful angels" that she bragged to everyone about.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Harry Tessem and Betty Berling, and brothers Lawrence and James.
She is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Richard; son Adam, daughter Marie, granddaughters Tayla and Rayna. Siblings; Tena (Mic) Fuller, Kathy Miller, David Smith, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 10 until the 11 a.m. service, on Monday, December 19, 2022, at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior. Gary Banker will officiate.
The family invites everyone to Ace's on 29th, following the service.
