Sandra Lee "Sandie" Williams née Sieckmann, 63, lost her second battle with cancer on Thurs., Sept. 19, 2013. She is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Jeffrey; her son, Phillip Runser; two grandchildren, Sarah and Phillip; her step-mother, Soccorro; and two brothers, William (Marilyn) and Charles (Diane). Sandie is also survived by an extended family of in-laws who adopted her as one of their own. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Patricia; a sister, Susan; and a brother, David.
Sandie was very proud of her 20 year association with Grandma's, starting with the company in its infancy in 1976 and continuing until her retirement as Controller in 1996. Upon retirement, Sandie relished her second "career" as a grandmother. An avid racing fan, Sandie would often attend races at Superior and Proctor Speedways and rarely went a weekend without watching NASCAR. In addition to auto racing, Sandie enjoyed bingo and playing cribbage, as well as her participation in various bowling and pool leagues.
Although there are many who helped with Sandie's care, special recognition needs to go to Sandie's sisters-in-law, Ruth Olson and Kathy Dawson, who's selfless giving enabled Sandie to stay in her home as long as possible. The family would also like to acknowledge Essentia Hospice and Solvay Hospice House for their exceptional services, and Halvorlines, whose caring and flexibility is appreciated at this time.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Sat., Sept. 28th in the Downs Funeral Home Chapel, corner of Ogden Ave. & 19th St., and continue until the 11:00 a.m. service.
