Scott Eugene Sutherland, 65, of Superior died Thursday, July 3, 2014 in Essentia-St. Mary's in Duluth surrounded by his loving family.

Scott was born March 6, 1949 in Superior to the late Betty Jane (Green) and Eugene "Pudge" Sutherland.

He graduated from Superior Senior High school in 1967, earned a political science degree from the U-W Madison and a teaching certificate from U-W Superior. He taught at Carl Sandberg Middle School in Rolling Meadows Illinois. Upon retiring, he returned to Superior. He was currently the vice-president of Superior connections for Senior Citizens.

He is survived by his sisters, Marcia (John Duffy) Sutherland of Maple Grove, MN, Roberta (Tom) Johnson of Hazelhurst, WI, Mary Elizabeth (Bruce) Haraldson of Superior, WI, and Laurie Sutherland of Rochester, MN; his brothers, Bruce Sutherland and Mark Sutherland both of Brooklyn Park, MN; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wed., July 16, from 5-7pm at the Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street. Visitation will resume on Thurs., July 17 at 10:00 am until the 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at the Cathedral of Christ the King with Fr. Andrew Ricci as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery.
