Obituary

Sharon A Botten (Otier) passed away peacefully July 20, 2022, at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, MN.

Sharon was born June 15, 1944, in Cheyenne Wyoming to William (Bill) and Shirley Otier. She grew up in Billings Park.  graduating from Cathedral High School and attending technical school in Superior, studying business and accounting. She was married to her husband of 43 years, Dale R Botten on March 17, 1979

Sharon had several jobs over the years in St. Paul, MN and Superior, WI. When her children were born, she became a full-time mother which was her favorite job.   As her kids got older, she re-entered the work force as an administrative assistant for the Head of The Lakes Fairground.  A job she very much enjoyed and in which she thrived.

Throughout her life, Sharon was a very artistic person.  She enjoyed painting, drawing and crafts of all type.  Recently, her artistic eye turned to jewelry making.  Her love of crafting was displayed every year in her "over-the-top" decorating for Christmas.  It was her favorite time of the year, and she went all out.

She loved to see her kids and grandkids enjoy all of her decorations. Her second favorite holiday was St. Patrick's Day.  She was very proud of her Irish heritage.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Cindy DeFranza, Billie Anderson and Debbie Otier, and her first husband Mike Payton.  She is survived and will be missed by her husband Dale of Superior, her sons; Brendan Payton of Lake Nebagamon, Colin (Kariann) Payton of Superior, Donovan (Christine) Payton of Delcambre, LA, and William Botten of Baraboo, WI.  She also leaves behind her favorites, her grandchildren Tyler, Grace, Brody, Abigail and Kacey.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 9, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Francis Cemetery. A Celebration of Life Service will follow from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Moose Lodge, 66 E 5 th St., Superior.

Christmas was Sharon's favorite time of the year.  She gave generously to help ensure every child had a gift.  Those wishing to send flowers or gifts are asked instead to make a donation in her name to her favorite Christmas charity, the Marine Toys for Tots Campaign:  https://www.toysfortots.org.
