Sharon E.
Miller
November 1, 1943 – January 29, 2025
She was gifted to this world on 1 November 1943. On the morning of 29 January 2025, Ms. Sharon E. (Botten) Miller, 81, of Superior peacefully crossed the border from this world of struggle and strife into that land of perfect love and serenity; a land that knows no parting. She carried with her a Christian passport on an eternal visa. At the port of entry, she was greeted by those loved ones who had entered this beautiful land before her: her dad, Lyle E. Botten Sr.; her mom, Victoria E. (Goodell) Botten; her sister, Darlene E. Botten; and most wonderful of all, her daughter, Sharon C. Miller.
She also was finally able to meet some of the grandparents and great grandparents she'd only heard about during her brief sojourn here; including Great Grandmother Susan M. (Ankeny) Runger, an accomplished horse-woman, who according to family legend, spent one whole evening at a barn dance, waltzing with the outlaw, Jesse James. Sharon herself was an accomplished horse-rider, who helped raise and train Tennessee Walkers. She loved all animals, especially horses, dogs and cats.
She loved everything Western, including the music. She learned to play the guitar, performing, and singing with the family dance band in the 1950s and early 1960s. She never lost her love of music and sang to herself constantly, even up to the close of her show here on Earth. Sharon also taught herself folk-art, leaving the world a legacy of paintings and sketches of cowboys, Native Americans, horses, and dogs.
After secondary school, Sharon graduated from secretarial school and was employed in the offices of attorneys and a labor union. But one job she said she absolutely loved was as a waitress at the East End Café (Superior) and at Deerfield's (now Borders, Hwy 105 in Superior). She said she loved meeting and talking with her customers; people who had no other agenda than to simply sit and enjoy a good meal.
Sharon leaves behind those who mourn for her, yes, but who also smile at remembering her fiery passion over the things in which she believed. She often described herself as a "stubborn Norwegian" (she was ¼ Dutch and ¾ Norwegian). Those she left behind include: brother, Lyle E. Botten (Ann) Jr. (Florida); brother, Dale R. Botten (Superior) and son-in-law, M. Carl Arnold (Superior); along with many cousins, nephews and nieces. She will be missed.
