Shirley L. Kitter, 91, recently of Duluth and longtime resident of Superior, died Monday, April 18, 2011 at St. Luke's Hospice, Duluth.
She was born October 9, 1919 in Superior, daughter of Thomas and Rosabelle (Brown) Streeter.
For over 23 years, Shirley worked as a L.P.N. for the former St. Mary's Hospital, Duluth. She enjoyed a fine, long retirement from there.
She was a member of Cathedral of Christ the King and the Superior Moose Lodge # 606.
One of her favorite pastimes was playing bingo; however, her greatest love was spending time with her family.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, James P. Kitter in 1968; and grandson-in-law, Fred Pederson.
Survivors include her sons, Jim (Melanie) Kitter and Tim (Denise) Kitter, both of Superior; granddaughters, Kathy (Bruce) Kitter-Carey, Brenda Lee (Jim) Glonek, Susan Kitter-Pederson and Michelle (Tim) Flynn, all of Superior; great-grandchildren, Kevin, Jim, Tom, Cody, Brad, Miranda and Willie; special friend, Cindy; and many cousins.
The memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2011, at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior. Reverend Father Andrew P. Ricci, Rector of Cathedral of Christ the King, will officiate.
Inurnment will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, Superior, following the service.
