Shirley M. Nelson's Obituary
Shirley May Nelson, of Superior, died Mon., June 23, 2014 at Essentia-St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth.
Shirley was born on Sept. 16, 1953, the daughter of Luella (Woods) and Michael Sandlin. She was one of 16 children.
Shirley enjoyed going on train rides especially on the pizza train. She also enjoyed Vista cruises on Lake Superior, playing cards and socializing.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John "Jack" A. Nelson, Jr.; and brothers and sisters, Floyd, Dorothy, Hazel, Edith, Mary Jane, Jimmy, Mike, and Harvey.
Shirley is survived by her step-children, Tammy Colby of Superior, Brenda (Shawn) Peterson of Duluth and Ricky Nelson of Vancouver, Wash.; eight grandchildren; and her brothers and sisters, Frank, Margaret, Helen, Susan, Clara, Charles, and Paul.
A graveside service will be held on Fri., June 27th at Lake Nebagamon Cemetery at 2p.m.
Downs Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
