Shirley O'Hara, 82, a longtime resident of Superior, Wis. died Fri., Apr. 6, 2012 in Essentia-St. Mary's Hospital, Duluth, Minn.
Shirley was born to Cecelia (Campbell) and Albert Correll on Jan. 23, 1930 in Park Falls, Wis.
She had been employed by the Douglas County Human Resource Center as an Administrative Assistant.
She was a member of Cathedral of Christ the King where she served as a greeter. She also volunteered at St. Mary's Hospital in Superior. The birthday lunches spent with her friends was a special time for her and she also enjoyed dining out with her friend, Arnie.
The love for her lake home was evident by the amount of time she spent there with her children and grandchildren. Shirley was a soft, kind person whose love of family was very important to her.
Lovingly remembering her are her daughters, Cheryl Brecke of Superior and Linda (Rick) McKee of Kansas City, Kan.; grandchildren, Jason and Michael Valentine, Kristi (Matt) Lewczenko, and Joseph and Katie McKee; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Marlis (Bob) Rongitsch and Yvonne (Joe) Holthaus all residing in Minn.; a brother, Dennis (Mary) Correll of Ind.; a special friend, Arnie Flagstad; and many nieces, nephews and close friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a brother, Duane; her husband, Dale died on Oct. 5, 2006; and the father of her children, Lawrence "Punky" Brecke.
Visitation will be Monday, April 9th, in Cathedral Of Christ the King from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Mass Of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. Andrew P. Ricci, Rector as Celebrant. Pallbearers will be her five grandchildren.
Downs Funeral Home, corner of Ogden & 19th St. is assisting the family with arrangements.
