Shirley M. Seguin, of Superior, died at age 91 on February 2, 2016 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth.
Shirley was born in Grenville, North Dakota in 1924. She moved with her family and dog Smokey to Superior by rail in 1930. Graduating from Central High School in 1942, she worked in the Superior shipyard during World War II and then married Fred M. Seguin in 1945. She was an avid animal lover and devoted her life to her family, church and community. She was a member of Hammond Avenue Presbyterian Church (later United Presbyterian Church) in Superior, worked with the Fairlawn Museum Auxiliary, and belonged, for many years, to the Superior Women's Club.
Preceding her in death were her husband Fred M. Seguin, parents Gust and Elsie Olson, and brothers Lawrence, Lester, Harold, Donald and Edward Olson.
Shirley is survived and will be missed by sons, Fredrick (Esther) Seguin of Boston, MA and Richard Seguin of Madison, WI; daughter, Jillene Seguin of Minneapolis, MN; and grandchildren Isabel and Alexander Seguin of Boston, MA.
Visitation will be from 11:30 until the Noon funeral service on Mon. Feb 8 at Downs Funeral Home, corner of 19th St. and Ogden Avenue. Rev. Joel Huenemann of United Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
