Obituary

Shirley Witkin – June 10, 1926 – November 9th, 2025

Shirley Witkin, 99 years young.   A social butterfly full of energy and charm, died recently after living a wonderful life to the fullest. She was known for being witty, inclusive, strong, and always speaking her mind. Shirley was devoted to her Jewish faith traditions, her community, and, above all, her family.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Harold Witkin; parents Barney and Rose Rich; brother-in-law Cy Kaster; and brothers and sisters-in-law Ben and Shirley Sigler, Paul and Dorothy Witkin, and Max and Sarah Witkin.

Shirley is survived by her sister Barbara Kaster; her children Leslie and Bruce Rosenberg, and Perry and Cindy Witkin. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren Brian (Samantha) Rosenberg, Mark (Ellen Shen) Rosenberg, Ari (Elizabeth Traison) Witkin, Eli Witkin; and her great-grandchildren Harlow and Louie Rosenberg, Emmy, Bennett, and Lucy Rosenberg, and Hadar, Raviv, Sivon, and Meital Witkin.

She leaves behind a legacy of strength and joy, with the philosophy of a favorite quote from Dr. Seuss: "Don't cry because it's over - smile because it happened."

Memorials are preferred to Temple Israel 1602 E 2nd St, Duluth, MN 55812, or donors' choice.
