Obituary

Stanley L. Pallas, 88, longtime resident of the Village of Superior, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at the Golden Living Center.

Stanley was born in Racine, WI on Oct. 25, 1926 the son of Lewis and Charlotte Pallas. He married the former Jean Brodin on Dec. 21, 1946 and they celebrated 60 years of marriage together before her passing on Feb. 22, 2007.

He served his country during WWII in the US Army Transportation Corps. He was a member of the First Evangelical Covenant Church, the Elks Lodge #403 and the VFW Post #847 all of Superior. He was a lifelong member and past president of the United Transportation Union (UTU), and a member of the BN association.

After he returned from the war he became a welder and worked in the Frasier Shipyards for about 6 years. He then began his career on the Great Northern Railroad which later became the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. He started in the shop and then worked as a fireman on the steam engines. He then became an engineer and retired after 41 years of service.

Stanley enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and being outdoors. He was proud of his lawn and yard work. He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Twins. He enjoyed working the Bingo games at the VFW and the Elks Lodge. Most important to him was spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jean; an infant son, Stanley Jr.; and brothers and sisters, Bertha, Katherine, James, Charles, Harry and George.

Stanley is survived by his four sons, David W. and Sherry of Kissimmee, FL, Mark A. and Dawnnette of Saginaw, TX, Curtis R. of Superior and Kevin L. and Kristine of West Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Cary J., Christopher M., Connie M., Angela M., Chad A., Chezlin D., and Indy R.; great-grandchildren, Bryan, Steven, Brecklin, Kailaya, Matthew, Samantha, Jazzmin, Sierra, Melanie, Alysha and Jeffrey; great-great grandchildren, Hazel, Elijah, Kiari, Kyler and Amonie; a half-brother, Harlan Rhodes; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin on Friday, Dec. 26 at 11:00 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. funeral service at the First Evangelical Covenant Church, 3311 Hammond Ave., Superior. With Rev. Luke Oliver as officiant. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery with Military Honors Accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of the Golden Living Center for their wonderful care of Stanley for the last two years.
