Stephen A. "Steve" Gotelaere, 74, of South Range and formerly of Superior, died Friday, February 25, 2022.

He was born March 7, 1947, in Superior, son of Francis "Wen" and Frances (Jolicoeur) Gotelaere.

He graduated from Superior East High School in1965.

Steve proudly served his country with the United States Marine Corps, following his high school graduation. Steve went on to serve on the SFD until he retired in 2005.

Some of his many interests included golfing, wood working, solving puzzles, reading, fishing, cooking, spending time with family and spoiling his grandkids.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Nick and John; sister-in-law, Mary Ann "Snooks" Gotelaere; brothers-in-law, Bob Rolandson, Al "Skip" Jones, and Kirk Schleife; and nephew, Craig Gotelaere.

Survivors include his children, Monica (Cory) Dahl, Cloquet, MN, Holly (Chris "BuBu") Belch, South Range, Erick Kendall, Arden Hills, MN, and Janet Peterson, CA; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; former wife, Toni Cummings Gotelaere, Solon Springs; siblings, G. Dave (Jan) Gotelaere, Williamsburg, VA, Betty Rolandson, Superior; Vic (Pat) Gotelaere, Kenosha, WI, Frank (Bev) Gotelaere, Superior, Jerry (Carol) Gotelaere, Superior, Bob Gotelaere, Barnes, WI, Don Gotelaere, Superior, Becky Jones, South Range, Katie Schleife, Superior, Andy (Darlyne Malmquist) Gotelaere, Jim Falls, WI, and Sally (Tom) Johnson, Superior; sister-in-law, Debbie Gotelaere, Lester Prairie, MN; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

A time of memorial will begin at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, March 3, 2022, at the Log Cabin Tavern, 2821 County Road E, South Range.

A graveside service will be held this summer at St. Francis Cemetery, Superior.
