Obituary

Steward Clifford Raygor, 78, of Superior passed away on September 5, 2023, after a short, hard fought battle with Pancreatic Cancer.

Stew was born on December 9, 1944, in Superior, Wisconsin. He graduated from Superior Central High School in 1963, then joined the Navy where he served on the USS Oklahoma City. Stew was a proud Veteran who served in Vietnam.

He had worked as a machine operator at Superior Fiber Products for 40 years.

Stew's greatest achievement was his family.  He and wife Gloria celebrated 53 years of marriage and raised three children, which blessed him with 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He loved attending his family's events.  He traveled between hockey rinks, school programs, dance recitals, baseball and softball fields.  He loved watching them all.  Stew was also proud to have 29 years of sobriety.

Stew found great joy in music.  He was a member of the Duluth Superior Harbormasters Chorus, and the "Cooler By the Lake" quartet.

Stew was a member of the American Legion #435 based in Superior. It brought him tremendous pride to serve with the Honor Guard and other veterans at the Bong Center.

Stew is survived by his wife, Gloria (nee Peters); sons, Brian (Myra) Raygor, Superior, WI, Erik (Jessica) Raygor, Eau Claire, WI; daughter, Angie (John V) Hadley, Sun Prairie, WI; grandchildren, Taylen, Justice, Bryce, Bailee, Keyten, Brodie, John VI, Gryfen, Olivia, Evan and Charlotte; and great grandchildren, Penelope and Pierre.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Harriet; sister, Sunday; and brother, Senator.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the hospital staff of St. Luke's Oncology, ICU and Hospice Departments.

Visitation will be held on Saturday Sept. 9th from 11:00 a.m. until the Noon service at Hope Church, 1827 Wyoming Ave., Superior.

Military Honors will be accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435 and a luncheon will follow.

Pallbearers will be his six grandsons, Bryce, Keyten, Brodie, John VI, Gryfen, and Evan.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center in memory of Steward Raygor, 305 E 2nd St, Superior, WI 54880.
