Obituary

Suoma Sanelma Leppanen, 89, of Superior, Wis. died Wed., April 23, 2014 in the Golden Living Center.

She was born April 8, 1925 In Kannonkoski, Finland. She married Reino in 1945 after he recovered from being wounded in WWII.  In 1956 she, Reino and daughter, Tuula, immigrated to the United States and settled in Superior.  Her work history included Hawkins Laundry and Jeno's.  After retiring they enjoyed their cabin in Solon Springs, visiting family in Finland and going dancing.  Be assured that there is a polka band playing right now to welcome her home.

Suoma is survived by two daughters, Tuula (Edward Kass) Harris of Solon Springs, Wis. and Sonja (Scott) McGirl of White Bear Lake, Minn.; a grandchild, Shawn McGirl of White Bear Lake; and her former son-in-law, Kenneth Harris of Florida.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Reino in 2002 and a grandson, Timothy Harris in 1971.

Visitation will be Sat., May 3 rd from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. memorial service in Downs Funeral Home, corner of Ogden Ave. & 19 th St.  Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
