Susan Kay Shepard, 68, of Superior, died Monday, September 11, 2023, at St. Lukes Hospice in Duluth after a three year battle with cancer (melanoma).

She was born July 1, 1955, in Superior to Beverly (Anderson) and Eugene 'Gene' John Ovesen Jr.

On August 23, 1975, Susan and Timothy Shepard were united in marriage and they recently celebrated 48 years of marriage.

She worked for many years as an X-Ray tech who specialized in mammography.

Sue enjoyed attending her kids' sporting events when they were growing up and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She liked to crochet and knit, especially baby outfits. She loved to decorate her house for the holidays and was also known for her front window decorating.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

Sue is survived by her husband, Tim; children, Tim (Quentin) Shepard, Andy (Kori) Shepard, Katie (Jason) Penney; grandchildren, Kevin, Tina, Jacob, Charlee Rose, Ella, Briggs; sister, Kathy (Scott) Peterson; uncle, Dave Johnson; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the Noon service on Saturday Sept. 16th at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N 19th St., with Gary Banker as officiant. A luncheon will follow the service at the Superior Elks Lodge, 1503 Belknap St.

A private family interment will be held at Greenwood Cemetery.
