Ted L. Ruport, Sr.'s Obituary
Ted L. Ruport, Sr., 62 of Superior was chosen to end his journey on Earth and begin a new journey with God on July 18, 2010 after a lengthy struggle with his health and a short battle with cancer.
Ted was born on Dec. 3, 1947 in Shell Lake, Wis. A lifelong resident of Superior, he met Laurel Aamold in Minneapolis, Minn. and they were married on Sept. 8, 1970 and had three children.
Ted was very well known and loved in the community. He was a member of the Eagles Club and a volunteer on the Douglas County Rescue Squad. He had been employed as a security officer at U.W. Superior then moved on to maintenance at St. Francis in the Park and finally the head of maintenance at Beverly Health and Rehab. Ted also did fill in work at the Indianhead home services providing transportation and also transportation for the children for the children of Camp Amnicon.
Ted was a very outgoing, strong and proud man who loved working with his hands building wood trains, fishing, always joking with anybody he could and had a positive out look on life. He was very close to his mother and took care of her for many years. Family was very important and all he ever wanted.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lola Grotzinger; sister and brother-in-law, Judy and William Hoover; and sister-in-law Eileen Grotzinger.
Ted is survived by the love of his life and wife of 40 years, Laurel; three children, Pattie (Carl) Crawford of Proctor, Minn., Ted Ruport, Jr. and Jola Ruport, both of Superior; grandchildren, Iashia Bolton and Isaah Crawford; brothers, Gerald (Kay) Ruport of Superior, William (Kay) Ruport of Marshalltown, Iowa, John (Chris) Ruport of Hoyt Lakes, Minn., Gerald Grotzinger of Michigan and Bob (Rosemary) Grotzinger of Ladysmith, Wis.; sister, Linda (Craig) Collins of Superior; and many nieces and nephews.
Ted was much loved and will be greatly missed by family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, monetary gifts are appreciated to cover any medical expenses and can be sent to Laurel Ruport at 710 Weeks Ave., Superior, WI 54880
