Obituary

Theodore A. Sannwald, 86, of Superior, died Tuesday, May 20, 2013 at Essentia St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth.

Theodore was born in Gordon, Wis. on Dec. 2, 1926 the son of Adolph and Masie Sannwald.

He served his country in the Army during WWII. After his service he graduated from the Wisconsin Teachers College (UWS) going on to be a teacher and principal at the Bennett School. He then was a milkman for Franklin Foods.

Theodore enjoyed sports. He was always at his grandsons basketball games. He went to UWS Hockey games and was a Green Bay Packer Fan. Most important to him was his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Walter K. Sannwald; and three sisters, Virginia Hitzemann, Helen Beeman and Naomi Kirk.

Theodore is survived by his wife of 62 years, Doris; daughter, Susan (Jerry) Johnsted of Superior; grandchildren, Matthew (Katie) Johnsted and Michael Johnsted of Superior; great-grandchild, Nathan Johnsted; a brother, Karl (Joyce) Sannwald of Minong; and his nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 11:00a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Veteran's Memorial Park. Rev. Will Mowchan of Pilgrim Evangelical Lutheran Church will officiate. Military Honors will be accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435.
