Obituary

Thomas C. Avis, 57, of Solon Springs, died on October 30, 2022, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

Tom was born on December 17, 1964, the son of Mary Ann (Nelson) and Raymond Avis.

He was united in marriage to Susan Bachman in Superior on March 2, 1987.

Tom was in the US Air Force / Air Guard and served in Iraq and Germany.

He was the owner of TC Construction and Excavating and was also an Avionics Technician for the 148th Fighter Wing, working on F-16 fighter jets.

Tom enjoyed being outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He spent time commercial fishing in Alaska, was a member of the Douglas County Fish & Game League, was a hunters safety instructor, trapper education instructor, and served on the Conservation Congress for the State of Wisconsin. He also served as fire chief for the Bennett Volunteer Fire Department.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Tom is survived by his wife, Susan of Solon Springs; children, Jacquelyn (Nicholas) Ledin and Matthew Avis, both of Superior; stepchildren, Gary (Katie) Sislo of Wausau, WI, and Sarah Farnsworth of Green Bay, WI; grandchildren, Oliver, Wesley, Margaret, Jack, Savanah, Rayanna, R.J., Madeline, and Kaylie; sister, Ann (John) Scott of Madison, WI; and mother, Mary Ann Avis of Lake Nebagamon, WI.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 11, 2022, from 2:00 until the 3:00 p.m. Celebration of Life at the Buffalo House, 2590 Guss Rd, Duluth, MN 55810. Gary Banker will officiate.

Burial will be in Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Spooner, WI at a later date.
