Thomas E. Sperling, Jr., 76, of Superior, died Friday, January 20, 2023, at Solvay Hospice House, Duluth.

He was born October 6, 1946, son of Thomas E. and Angeline T. (Proffit) Sperling.

Tom proudly served his country with the U.S. Air Force in Vietnam until his honorable discharge.

He worked on the railroad and was owner of Sperling Roofing.

Gardening and beekeeping were certainly passions of his, raising many vegetables and honey for the local farmer's market. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and in his younger years he played the guitar.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his daughter, Heather Sperling, Duluth; son, Thomas Sperling, Superior; grandchildren, Brenna Drinkwater, Skyler Sperling and Wyatt Sperling; great-grandson, Cash Sperling; sister, Barbara (Tom) Dickenson, Superior;  brothers, Tim Sperling, Solon Springs, Terry (Barb) Sperling, Sarona, WI, Todd (Debbie) Sperling, St. Paul, MN, Joe (Julie) Sperling, Andover, MN, Scott (Gina) Sperling, Mora, MN, and Dave Sperling, Solon Springs, WI; and several nieces and nephews.

Burial will be in Summit Cemetery, Foxboro, WI.

A celebration of Tom's life will be held at a later date.
