Thomas James Kimmes, 54, lifelong resident of Superior, lost his two-year battle to cancer on Sunday, March 24, 2019, surrounded by his family at home.

Tom was born on Sept. 10, 1964 the son of Joseph P. Kimmes Jr, and Kathleen (Timmer) Kimmes.

He married Michelle Ericksen on July 20, 1985. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his kids and woodworking. Most important to him was spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joseph Kimmes III and Scott Kimmes; and brother-in-law, James 'Tim' Schmid.

Tom is survived by his wife of 34 years, Michelle; children, Thomas James 'TJ', James Thomas 'JT', Kallie and Justin all of Superior; brothers and sisters, Kathi 'Peachie' Schmid of Superior, Peter Kimmes of Lake Nebagamon, Lori Buttrick of Superior and Lester 'Bob' (Crystal) Johnson of Superior; sisters-in-law, Julie Kimmes and Mary Kimmes-Larson; step-mother, Kathleen 'Chatty' Kimmes of Superior; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 27, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N 19 ^th St. Visitation will resume on Thursday, March 28, from Noon until the 1:00 p.m. Funeral Mass at Holy Assumption Catholic Church, 5601 Tower Ave. Rev. Fr. Ronald Olson as celebrant.

Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews.
