Obituary

Velma Erma Stein, 92, of Superior, died Thursday, August 11, 2011 at Essentia Health-St. Mary's Superior.

Velma was born in Eagle River, Wis., on Aug. 15, 1918 the daughter of Matilda (Taro) and Alex Hendrickson.

She had worked as an office clerk for Tyomies Newspaper. She was a member of Grandmothers for Peace and the Mesaba Park Cooperative Assoc.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gilbert; son, Russell; two grandchildren, Bryan and Lori; son-in-law Carl Roten; daughter-in-law Jonnie Ann Stein and her brother Victor.

Velma is survived by her daughters, Carol (Dean) Roten-Diller of Anchorage, Alaska, Judy (David) Fudally of Superior, Julie (Gerald) Larson of Duluth; sons, Henry of South Range and Kenneth (Lauri) of Solon Springs; eleven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A time of remembrance will be held at the Billings Park Civic Center on Sun. Aug. 14, 2011 from 1-3pm. Inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery.

If desired, donations may be made in Velma's name to the Salvation Army.
