Obituary

Vernice Janet (Westlund) Anderson passed away peacefully on Thurs., March 26, 2015 at Harmony House II in Superior.

Born April 19, 1924, she spent her entire life living in Superior, Wis. She married Clifford Douglas Anderson on January 28, 1944 and they celebrated 54 years of marriage before his passing in May 1998.

She was a homemaker for many years and a sales clerk at Oreck's (Superior and Duluth), Bud's (Duluth) and Lignell's (Superior). She was a volunteer at St. Mary's Essentia Health and at the Superior voting polls. Vernice enjoyed playing bridge with her friends. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Superior.

Vernice is lovingly remembered by her five children, Beth (Mike) Mooney, Fred Anderson, Mary Granlund, Nancy (Som Sarkar) Anderson, and Carolyn (Barry Edwards) Anderson; eight grandchildren, Melissa Granlund, Greg (Amy) Granlund, Jim (Melissa) Coddington, Andrew (Katie) Anderson, Adam Anderson, Tia Sarkar, Gabriel and Lana Edwards; and ten great-grandchildren, Hannah, Caleb, and Isabelle Hedberg, Trey Carter, Tyler Granlund, Megan, Jimmy, and Matthew Coddington, Kaylie Anderson, and Audrey Anderson.

Vernice was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford; parents, Nina and J. Edwin Westlund; and a sister, Lorraine Westlund.

Her family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Harmony House II for the care and love they showed their Mother and her family during the nearly eight years that she lived there. She was at peace in her final days surrounded by her loved ones and the residents and care givers at Harmony House II.

There will be a Remembrance Memorial Service at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1924 Wyoming Ave., Superior, Wis. at 1:00 p.m. on Mon., March 30th followed by a time of fellowship.

Downs Funeral Home, corner of Ogden & 19th St., is assisting the family with arrangements.
