Vernon B. Hoag, 93, of Superior, died Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at Chris Jensen Health and Rehab Center.
Vernon was born in Superior the son of Bennie and Ethel Hoag.
He served his country during WWII in the Army and participated in the Battle of the Bulge.
He married Irene Raschke on April 12, 1948 and they celebrated almost 70 years of marriage together.
Vern worked for Larson Chevrolet for over 40 years as an autobody repairman. He was a jack of all trades. He enjoyed dancing the Polka and taking trips with Irene to Polka festivals. Most important to him was the time he spent with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jack Hoag.
Vern is survived by his wife, Irene; children, Susan (Thomas) Van Hornweder of South Range, WI, Barb Hoag of Superior, and Vernon B (Diane) Hoag, Jr. of Waukesha, WI; grandchildren, Mark (Rachel) Van Hornweder, Kristy Van Hornweder, Michael (Chandra) Hoag, and Tracy (Dave) Hilt; great-grandchildren, Tessa, Caleb, Jasper, and Acadia; a sister, Delores Abrahamson of Two Harbors; and many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Sat. Dec. 9 , 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Assumption Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Ronald Olson as celebrant. Visitation will begin one hour prior.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435.
Donations may be made in Vernon's name to Chris Jensen Health and Rehab or to a charity of the donor's choice.
