Victor
Lenhart
March 23, 1922 – April 2, 2018
Victor Lenhart, age 96, of Cornucopia, Wisconsin, passed away on April 2, 2018 in Superior, Wisconsin, surrounded by family and friends.
He was born March 23, 1922, in Allentown, PA, son of Julius and Mary (Gross) Lenhart.
Vic was independent, his life a reflection of his beliefs and values. He and his cherished wife, Monda Laverne Lenhart, worked every day building a unique home and life together. For the artist (Monda) and the engineer (Vic) no project was too small, too large or too specialized for them to tackle.
Vic had three main interests besides his family and friends; flying, building things, and the outdoors. An intelligent and curious man he would research, study, and master numerous skills and subjects over his lifetime. He held many diverse jobs over the years including trapper, efficiency engineer, pilot, forest ranger, geologist, surveyor, well driller, machinist, shop supervisor, hunting guide, home builder, and airplane repairman. A World War II Fighter Pilot, turned Alaskan bush pilot and homesteader he built, rebuilt and repaired things…anything that struck his fancy, airplanes, log homes, fireplaces, furniture, tools, cars, even financial portfolios. He loved nothing more than finding a solution to a problem, unless of course it was flying, or observing nature. At age 60, he moved from Alaska with his wife, Monda, to Cornucopia Wisconsin to design and build a solar heated, log home with an elevator for when they got "old." Truly, he never really did get old, flying until he was 89, hiking local trails in his mid-90's and watching the animals and birds until the very end. Always ready to help others, he was an exemplary husband to Monda, father to daughter Vici and friend to many. We will miss him.
Preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Julius Lenhart; siblings, Charles Lenhart, Elizabeth Royer, Joanne Lenhart, Oswald Lenhart, and John Lenhart; and wife Monda Laverne Lenhart.
Mourned by daughter, Monda Vici (Brian) McCusker, and step-granddaughters Sara (Miles) Ursin and Amy (Beau) Thurman.
