Virginia Marie 'Sis' Moore, 88, a lifelong Superior, WI resident passed away Sat., Jan. 30, 2016 at Essentia-St. Mary's Hospice, Duluth with her family at her side.
She was born Sept. 7, 1927 to Margaret (Haeck) and Caesar Van Damme.
Sis attended St. Anthony's Grade School and Cathedral High School, graduating with the class of 1946.
She worked at various local retail businesses and eventually retired from Lignell Drug Store when they merged with another store.
In 1952, she met and married Verlyn Moore and together they raised two sons. Recently they celebrated sixty-three years together. Sis had a great love for her family, which included five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a son, Kenneth; a grandson, Ryan; two brothers, Robert and William; and two nephews, Dennis and Robert.
Lovingly remembering her is her husband, Verlyn 'Vern'; a son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Fran Moore; daughter-in-law, Cynthia 'Cindy' Moore; granddaughters, Amanda (Jason) Moore, Megan (Matt) Moore, Dana (Ben) Carlson, Rachel (Shawn) St. Germaine; grandson, Russell (Sara) Moore; great-grandchildren, Paige, Dominic, Ruby, Rylie, Carter, Jayden, Abby, Hannah, Brooklyn, Aleah, and Mason; sister, Lorraine LaJoie; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thurs., Feb. 4th in the Downs Funeral Home, corner of Ogden Ave. & 19th St., from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and will resume in St. Anthony's Catholic Church on Fri., Feb. 5th at 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Mass Of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. Leon Flaherty as Celebrant. Committal prayer will be held at St. Francis Cemetery and a reception will follow in the church's fellowship hall.
Active pallbearers will be Vern, Brian, Rusty, Amanda, and Megan Moore, and Dana Carlson. Honorary pallbearers will be a granddaughter, Rachel St. Germaine, and Virginia's eleven great-grandchildren.
If desired, memorials in Virgina's name may be made to St. Anthony's Church or to the St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, Memphis, Tenn.
