Wallace D. "Wally" Blomster, 87, a lifelong Superior, Wis. resident died Sun., Apr. 1, 2012 in Essentia Health St. Mary's Hospital, Duluth, Minn.
He was born Oct. 13, 1924 in Superior to Ida and Walter Blomster. He served our country in the U. S. Army from Mar. 20, 1943 to Nov. 8, 1945.
Following his military service during WWII he attended the Superior Vocational School receiving a degree in bookkeeping/accounting. He was employed as an office manager/accountant in various twin ports car dealerships retiring in the mid 80's.
He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, where he was on the Board of Trustees, taught Sunday School and served as an usher. He was a founding member of the Lake Superior Museum of Transportation in Duluth.
Wally was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, the former Catherine "Kay" L. Elllis, died on Sept. 20, 1996; and two sisters, Edith Samuelson and Eleanor Budd.
Surviving Wally are several nieces and nephews including Larry (Tina) Spaniol of Blaine, Minn.; Susan (Ken) Drolsum of Eagle, Wis.; and four great-nieces and great-nephews, Melanie Drolsum of Madison, Wis., Kyle Drolsum of Regensburg, Germany, and Andrew and Caitlin Spaniol of Blaine, Minn.
Visitation will be Sat., Apr. 7th from 10:00 a.m. until his 11:00 a.m. funeral service in Our Savior's Lutheran Church with Pastor Sarah Kerkes officiating. Committal prayers will take place at Greenwood Cemetery followed by military rites accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post No. 435.
