SUPERIOR
Wava E. Rice, 85, of Superior, died Sunday, December 13, 2009 at Golden Living Center, Superior.
She was born September 27, 1924 in Stanbury, Wis., daughter of Jeanette (Elliot) and Rexford Briggs.
Wava was a member of Twin Ports Baptist Church and a former member of the Homemaker's Club.
Some of her interests included cooking, baking, picking blueberries and dining out. However, her greatest interest was spending time with her family.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, James R. Rice in 1989; and brother, Burton Briggs.
Survivors include her daughters, Linda (Edward St. John) Rice-St. John, Superior, and Karen (Carl) Gilfoy, Grain Valley, Missouri; sons, John (Yvonne) Rice, Superior, and Roger (Karolyn) Rice, Marinette, Wis.; grandchildren, Ed, Eric, Melanie, Daniel and Felicia; great-grandson, James; sisters, Ramona Kettewell, Apple Valley, Minn., and Shirley Bowman, Clinton, Iowa; several nieces and nephews; and special canine friend, Second Chantz.
The visitation will be from 10 until the 11 a.m. service Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior. Reverend J. Mark Wagenschutz, pastor of Twin Ports Baptist Church will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Tom Kiiski, Ken Sundvick, Donny Backlund, Cliff Gagner, Ole Lear and Scott Johnstad.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Superior.
