Obituary

Wayne T. Carlton, 82, of Duluth, MN died on Sunday, June 9, 2024 at St. Luke's Hospital with his family by his side.

Wayne was born July 10, 1941 to Albert and Mary (Watson) Carlton in Durham, NC.  He was a US Air Force veteran.

He met and married Leonella Sisto… and made their home in Duluth.

Wayne was employed first as a firefighter in North Carolina.  Upon making Duluth their home he was employed with Duluth Transit Authority working in various positions, driving buses, street supervisor, and the finance department.  Wayne was on the Grand Lake Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years.  He was actively involved with his family and community events throughout his life.  Wayne had a passion for classic cars and was involved with many groups over the years.

He will be remembered for his kind heart, helping hand, and positive outlook on life.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Brenda "Binky" Carlton; mother-in-law, Mary Sisto; father-in-law, Patrick Sisto; brother-in-law, Eugene Sisto; nephew, Michael Sisto, and many great friends.

He is survived by his wife, Leonella Carlton; his daughter Leann (Jeffrey) Draxten; grandsons, Alecs Draxten and Jordan Draxten; his brother, Jantzen Carlton and sister's in-law, Brenda Carlton, and Laurie Sisto; and Debbie, Heather, Kim, and Tim.

A graveside service with military honors provided by the Duluth Combined Honor Guard will be held Thursday, July 11, 2024, at 1:00 pm in Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, 4777 Highway 53, Saginaw, MN.  A celebration of life will continue from 2:00-4:00 pm with a time of sharing at 3:00 pm in Grace Lutheran Church, 5454 Miller Trunk Hwy., Hermantown, MN.
