Obituary

Wayne L. Gibson, 88, of Wascott, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 14, 2024, surrounded by his family at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth.

He was born on March 4, 1936, in Owatonna, MN, the son of Mabel (Reed) and Clarence Gibson.

On July 18, 1957, Blanche Mork and Wayne Gibson were united in marriage in Reno, NV.

Wayne worked for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources for 34 years in Forestry, State Park Management and Land Appraisal & Acquisition.

He was an avid golfer all of his life, making many friends over the years. He enjoyed collecting, recording and sharing music of many genres, classic (old) country being his favorite. He loved working and being in nature and the woods. Spending time with family and friends was important to Wayne, making many memories and a lot of stories. He spent the last 22 years at Crystal Lake enjoying family and friends on the pontoon and cocktails on the deck. He attended and supported his children in all their athletic and academic endeavors. He loved to travel with Blanche and together they visited 49 states and several National Parks. He will be remembered for always offering a helping hand to others (family, friends, strangers) right up to his final days.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister-in-law, aunts, uncles, and many dear friends.

Survivors include his loving and dedicated wife, Blanche; children, Randy (Karen) Gibson, Mitch (Susan) Gibson, Curtis (Cindy) Gibson, and Diane (Ken) Eggen; grandchildren, Cole (Johanna), Chad, Taylor (Pedro), Christopher, Kara (Tyler), McKenzie (John), Cody (Travis), Cassy, Brady, Erin (Marcus), and Kevin; and great grandchildren, Draxton, Rhodes, and Marek.

A celebration of Wayne's life will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2024 from 2:00-6:00 pm at their home on Crystal Lake in Wascott, 16118 S Morningside Drive, Gordon, WI 54838.
