Obituary

Wilbert Oliver "Willie" Tuomi, 87, a lifelong resident of Superior, Wis. died Wed., Dec. 3, 2014 in Essentia-St. Mary's Hospital in Superior with his loving family by his side.

He was born June 10, 1927 to Olga (Kariniemi) and John Tuomi.

For twenty-eight years he was employed by A. D. M. Elevators.

He was well known in his community as "the go to man" for "Mr. Fix It". Being very artistic he built model horse drawn wagons and children's doll houses. He made and donated to his church's bazaars recycled shovel crow birds. He also was a cartoonist at work when things got bad.

Willie is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, the former Harriet Legard of Superior Township; three children, Sharon (James) Musich of Woodbury, Minn., John (Carol) Tuomi of Superior, and Wendy Miller of Superior; grandchildren, Lisa, Tara, Jason, Jesse, Chelsey, and Jenna; eleven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many cousins residing in Finland.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister, Helen Nummelin.

Pallbearers will be Tara Levings, Justin Gervais, Jason and Jesse Tuomi and Chelsey and Jenna Miller.

His funeral will be in Bethel Lutheran Church, of which he was a member, on Tues., Dec. 9 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Gary Garnatz officiating. A time of visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Committal prayers will be held at Greenwood Cemetery.
