Obituary

William C. "Bill" Schiller, 75, of Superior, died Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at Villa Marina Health and Rehabilitation Center, Superior.

He was born November 28, 1936 in Superior, son of Elmer and Ethel (Specht) Schiller.

On September 12, 1964 in Duluth, Minnesota, Barbara J. Urbanski and William C. Schiller were united in marriage.

Bill served his country with the Red Arrow Division of the U.S. Army National Guard.

Bill worked over 41 years as a service technician for Sears. Following his retirement from Sears, he worked in the plumbing department at Menards.

His memberships included Holy Assumption Catholic Church;
Past Exalted Ruler of the B.P.O.E. # 403 and was Past District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler; Julie's Restaurant 6 a.m. coffee group; Sears retirees coffee group; Essentia-St. Mary's Superior volunteer; H.A.M. operator; president of Ace Investment Club; and U.C.T. # 333.

Preceding him in death were his parents and sister.

Survivors include his wife of over 47 years, Barbara J. Schiller; son, Don (Jeff Fulton) Schiller, Arlington Heights, Illinois; daughter, Kathie (Tim) Palmquist, Prior Lake, Minnesota; twin granddaughters, Ella and Emma Palmquist, Prior Lake, Minnesota; and cousins, Bob (Margaret) Braun, Superior, and Barb (Danny) Aker, Duluth.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 2, 2011 at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior, with an Elk's memorial service at 6:30 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 3, 2011 at Holy Assumption Catholic Church, Superior, with Reverend Father Ronald Olson as celebrant.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Superior, with military rites accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post # 435.

Active pallbearers will be Bob Kari, Blaine Kari, Michael Kari, Derek Kari, Bob Braun and Ryan Braun. Honorary pallbearers will be Bernie Hughes, Paul Arnovich, Don DeMeyer, Dick Ford, Al Butterworth, and all Elk members.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made to Holy Assumption Catholic Church, Essentia-St. Mary's Superior Volunteers, or
B.P.O.E. # 403 Scholarship Fund.
