William "Bill" G. Swenson, 86, of Superior, died Tues. Jan 12, 2010 at Middle River Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Bill was born in Hopkins, Minn. on April 1 1923 the son of Mable (Shufelt) and Peter O. Swenson.

Bill served in the Army Air Corps during WWII and also in the 32nd Division of the Wisconsin National Guard retiring at the rank of 1st Lieutenant.

He married the former Delia Hagen on July 4, 1943 in Superior.

Bill was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church. He loved to golf and enjoyed taking care of his lawn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister June Galster

Bill is survived by his wife of 66 years, Delia; a daughter, Mary Swenson of St. Paul, Minn.; a son, David Swenson of Eden Prairie, Minn.; and a nephew Robert Galster of New Jersey.

His memorial service will be held on Sat. Jan. 16, at 2:00 p.m. at Pilgrim Lutheran Church. Visitation will begin one hour prior. Inurnment will take place in the spring at Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner.
