Obituary

William Jay Grimsrud, 81, of South Range, passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family.

Bill was born in Morgan Park, Minn. on Nov. 4, 1928 the son of Sarah (Murphy) and Fred Grimsrud.

He enlisted in the Army serving his country from 1946-47.

Bill married the former Mary Lou Johnson on Oct. 4, 1952 in Concordia Lutheran Church in Superior.

He worked as a pumper for Murphy Oil for 31 years. Bill bowled in the senior league at Village Bowl and enjoyed golfing, spending time at his lake property and working in his yard. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren whom he adored.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Ward Grimsrud.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Lou; children, Cindy (Mike) Miller of South Range, William (Roxanne) Grimsrud of Sheboygan, Wis., Timothy (Anne) Grimsrud of Superior and Cathleen Grimsrud of Green Bay, Wis.; grandchildren, Fawn (Michael), Michael, Megan (Jesse), Rebecca, Dylan and Ryan; great-grandchild Adelynn and one to be born any day; brothers, Tom (Mary Ann) Grimsrud of Texas, Fred Grimsrud of Arizona and Richard (Diane) Grimsrud of Iron River; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Thurs. Nov. 4th from 5-7p.m. at Downs Funeral Home, corner of 19th St. and Ogden Ave. Funeral service will be on Fri. Nov. 5th at 11 a.m. at Country Peace Church. Rev. Richard Blood and Rev. H. Duane Aslyn will co-officiate. Military honors will be accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion post #435. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.

If desired, memorials may be made in Bill's name to Country Peace Church or to St. Mary's Hospice and Palliative Care.
