William H. "Bill" Salveson, 81, of Solon Springs, passed gently into the arms of our Lord, following a courageous battle with cancer, Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at Solvay Hospice House, Duluth, surrounded by his family.

He was born February 6, 1933, in Superior, son of Henry and Laura (Peterson) Salveson.

Bill served his country with the U.S. Army in Germany.

His work history included Western Electric as an installer for 31 years, and was currently owner of Solon Springs Ice Company.

Bill was chairman of the Upper Lakes Sanitary District and served on the Solon Springs Development Commission.

Preceding him in death were his parents; infant son, William Henry, Jr.; and infant daughter, Patricia Ann.

Survivors include his wife of over 60 years, Joan (Hoffman); sons, William Robert (Ann Albrecht), Richard (Tracy), and Gary (Callie); sister, Jean Schroeder; family friend, Sandy Tousignant,; many nieces and nephews; and special canine companion/buddy, Jake.

Visitation will be from 10 until the 11 a.m. celebration of life, Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1924 Wyoming Avenue, Superior, with Reverend Sarah Kerkes officiating.

Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Superior.
