Obituary

William "Bill" J. Bush, 65, of Lake Nebagamon, passed away after a long illness.

Bill was born in Hawaii on February 11, 1960, the son of Jackson and Erna (Strunz) Bush. His lifetime dream was to experience different cultures and lifestyles within the United States. During his lifetime, Bill lived in 19 states for at least a month.

He grew up in Green Bay and was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a degree in economics and minors in business management and military science. Bill also earned a secondary education teaching license from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Upon graduation, Bill served on active duty in the army as a field artillery officer where he achieved the rank of Captain. He spent over 30 years in insurance as a field claims adjuster working, homeowner, automobile, liability, and subrogation claims.

Bill was a lover of the natural world, from walking his dogs on the beaches, camping with his dogs and fishing.  Always engaging in conversations and learning so much about the people he encountered.  He had a wicked sense of humor, and he had quite the fedora collection, which I must admit were quite dapper on him.

Bill was my hero, even when he lost both legs, he still managed to live at home caring for his dogs, his lawn, his daily chores, even had a garden until this last year that was really productive.  He rejoiced, taking his convertible out and pointing it whichever way caught his fancy that day, including his last solo vacation to Kentucky.  And he could cook, never afraid to experiment with flavors and spices.

I will miss his daily calls, which sometimes could last for hours but covering so many subjects.  Bill lived his life on his own terms and I'm sure there is an extra star in the sky for him.

Bill will be remembered for his loyalty especially to his dogs, family, and his friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Terry Bush and brother, Michael Bush.

He is survived by his sister, Veronica Bodoh and nephew, Scott (Tawna) Bodoh and their families.

Bill's family would like to thank the Lake Nebagamon Fire Department and ambulance service in getting to Bill so quickly and administering help. We would also like to thank Dr. Romy Lawrence and the ICU Unit of Essentia Hospital for their care, and we are grateful for their kindness.

Per his wishes, there will be no funeral services.
