William "Bill" J. Kauppi, 82, of Superior, died Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Golden Living Center, Superior.
He was born December 18, 1929 in Glidden, WI, son of William and Emma (Schweiner) Kauppi.
Bill served his country with the U.S. Navy.
He worked many years as a brakeman for the former Great Northern Railroad. Railroading was an integral part of his life; however, his greatest love was his family.
Survivors include his wife, Helen; son, Michael Kauppi, Tokyo, Japan; granddaughter, Alexi Kauppi; step-children, Peggy Staples and Don Sharlow; and sister, Ida Barnes.
There will be a visitation from 5 to 6:30 p.m., with a meal following, Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at Central Assembly of God, 3000 Hammond Avenue, Superior.
Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N. 19th Street, Superior, is assisting the family with arrangements.
