October 5, 1936 – November 25, 2020
William 'Bill' J. McKay, 84 of Superior, died Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at his residence.
Bill was born on Oct. 5, 1936 the son of Hugh F. and Violet McKay.
He was a brick layer for many years at US Steel. He also owned and operated Slo-Poke CB Sales & Gifts.
Bill served in the Army and National Guard for 7 years.
Bill enjoyed wood working, putting together puzzles, gardening, and loved talking to people.
He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Denise Schmid; sons, Jimmy and Scotty McKay; brothers, James, Tom, and Jack McKay; and sisters, Margaret McKay and Marie Kuznia.
Bill is survived by his wife of 38 years, Darlene; children, Jamie East of Danbury, Patrick McKay of Columbus, OH, and Todd (Cheryl) McKay of Superior; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; brother, Hugh McKay; sisters-in-law, Katherine 'Kitty' Krisak and Violet 'Sis' (Phil) Stariha; son-in-law, Jim Schmid; and his faithful dog, Brutus.
Celebration of Bill's life will be held on Thursday, March 11, 2021. Visitation will be from 10:30 until the 11:00 a.m. service at Central Assembly of God, 3000 Hammond Avenue.
Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery Soldier's Memorial Park with military honors accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435.
