William 'Bill' C. Thompson, 79, of Superior, died Saturday, April 25, 2020 surrounded by his family at his residence.
William was born in Superior on March 13, 1941 the son of Laura (Lawrence) and Clarence Thompson. He married Diane Hoffman on Oct. 13, 1962 and the celebrated 58 years of marriage.
He worked as a Blacksmith Welder for Burlington Northern B&B for 25 years. He had also been a member of the Superior Moose Lodge.
Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors in the hardwoods of Gordon. He had a quirky sense of humor and was the kindest man. He was very family orientated and loved spending time with them.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Catherine Olsen; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edward and Julia Hoffman; and close friend, Fr. Raymond Schoone.
Bill is survived by his wife, Diane; daughter, Sherry (Wayne) Erickson of Superior; son, Brad Thompson of Superior; grandchildren, Matthew and Juliana Erickson, and Madeline and Logan Thompson; sisters, Sandra Coleman and Laurie Cooper; and many nieces and nephews.
Due to COVID-19 and the Governor's mandate a private family graveside will be held at Greenwood Cemetery. A celebration of Bill's life will be held at a later date.
The family would like to say thank you to St. Luke's Hospice, especially Sharon and Pat.
A special note from his wife, "I will cherish our years together, keeping your memory in my heart. Until we meet again, I love you."
