Roger A. Scheldroup, 78, of Lake Nebagamon, formerly of Glendale, WI, died Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at his home.
He was born in Superior on September 14, 1938, the son of Fred and Eleanore Scheldroup.
Roger received his Masters degree from the University of Wisconsin Superior and went on the teach high school history in Virginia, MN. While there, he was the baseball coach and brought the team to state. After leaving Virginia, he went on to become a guidance counselor at Nicolet High School in Glendale, WI for the next 31 years. He also coached track and football.
He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church and Trinity Lutheran Church.
Roger was a charismatic guy with a big laugh. He had a strong work ethic and academics and athletics were very important to him. He enjoyed riding his bike, golfing, and socializing with his friends. He was an avid fan of the Badgers and Brewers. Roger loved living in Lake Nebagamon and spending winters in Dunedin, FL. Most of all, he loved his family and they were most important in his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Roger is survived by his children, Robert (Denise) Scheldroup, Hales Corners, WI, Suzanne Scheldroup, Minocqua, WI, Cathy (Richard) Trimborn, Glendale, WI, Jon P. (Catherine) Scheldroup, Glendale, WI, and Steven (Carrie) Scheldroup, Glendale, WI; step-son, Gary (Tami) Franzen; grandchildren, Derek, Jordan (Jonathan), Connor, Sara, Alec, Carly, Brad, Carson, Cole, Sara (Steve), Austin, Paige, Cooper, Payton, and Jackson; great-grandchild, Lincoln; brothers, Richard (Karen) Scheldroup, and Jon W. (Judy) Scheldroup; significant other, Deb Karnes, Lake Nebagamon; and mother of his children, Patricia Scheldroup, Glendale, WI.
His visitation will be on Friday, May 5, 2017, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Downs Funeral Home, 1617 N 19 th Street, Superior, and continue on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Concordia Lutheran Church from 11:00 a.m. until the noon funeral service. Rev. Michelle Rowell and Rev. Darrell Kyle will co-officiate.
Burial will be in Lake Nebagamon Cemetery later this summer.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
